A voteless people is a hopeless people
A Voteless People is a Hopeless People is a National Program of Alpha initiated during the 1930’s when many African-Americans had the right to vote but were prevented from voting because of poll taxes, threats of reprisal, and lack of education about the voting process. Voter education and registration have remained a dominant focus of this outreach activity for over 65 years. In the 1990’s, the focus shifted to include political awareness and empowerment, delivered most frequently through town meetings and candidate forums.

Go to high school, go to college
Alpha Esquire is a mentoring initiative supported by the George Lewis Jr Educational Foundation; it is aimed to help males to develop assets necessary to make healthy life choices, set realistic goals, act with determination, and ultimately build vibrant successful lives for themselves through direct contact and relationships with caring and positive adult role models. Alpha Esquire is made up of a group of Alpha Brothers that subscribes to the W.E.B. Dubois theory that it will take the 10 percent of enlightened African Americans to reach out to the rest of our race and provide the leadership needed for us to fully obtain and reach our goals. The Alpha Phi Alpha Brothers will support and mentor a selected group of African American males, ages 12 to 18 from the community at large in Thomasville, GA.
