The History of Tau Upsilon Lambda:

Founded on May 8, 2025, Tau Upsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. proudly holds the distinction as the 898th House of Alpha, further extending the fraternity’s noble legacy of leadership, scholarship, and community uplift. Located in Thomasville, Georgia, affectionately known as the Rose City, the Tau Upsilon Lambda Chapter was established by sixteen devoted Brothers who answered the call of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.'s mission in the Thomasville community.
The history of Tau Upsilon Lambda Chapter began more than fifteen years ago when the vision of four steadfast Alpha men: Bro. Charles Wesley Armster, Jr., Rev. Dr. Bro. Issac Mullins, Bro. George Lewis Jr., and Bro. Samuel Lewis Boykins led efforts to establish a chapter in Thomasville, Ga. Although their efforts were unsuccessful, the vision was planted, and without these Brothers exemplifying the high ideals of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, with their commitment to excellence, community empowerment, and Brotherhood, the Tau Upsilon Lambda Chapter would not exist today.
In 2021, momentum was renewed when Brothers from the surrounding areas of South Georgia and North Florida united to establish the Thomasville Alpha Coalition. This coalition worked tirelessly to develop community partnerships, Brotherly connections, mentoring, and community service in Thomasville. Those efforts mirrored Alpha Phi Alpha’s motto: First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All.
With perseverance, unity, and faith, the coalition’s work culminated in success. On May 8, 2025, our collective vision was realized with the official chartering of the Tau Upsilon Lambda Chapter. This historic moment affirmed years of dedication to making Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.'s presence known in the Thomasville, Ga., area and surrounding communities.
Today, the Tau Upsilon Lambda Chapter proudly carries forward the legacy forged by our four founding Brothers, who were committed to community uplift, leadership, and service. As the 898th House of Alpha, the Chapter stands poised to honor the past, serve the present, and shape a future rooted in excellence, brotherhood, and impact.
